I removed two bad rear shock mounts on a 54 3100, using the same procedure as described by Deve. The old mounts had become deformed and had wallowed-out holes, due to loose shock bolts.
I think I used rounded-head (not slotted head) high-grade SS bolts from Totally Stainless. It looks OK and seems to be OK for my easy-going cruising. I check the tightness of all my bolts every year during end-of-hibernation check-out.
