I agree with it most likely being a bad sending unit.It cound also be the sender wire (light green) grounding out between the temp light and sender.When the light comes on , pull the wire off at the sending unit and see if the light is still on.Light on = wire grounded, light off = bad sending unit.Hope this helps.
