Deve, it takes two. One operates the backhoe and one stands on the vault in the hole with a shovel to tamp the dirt in around the edges. This is done to prevent air pockets and settling. My first job was the man in the hole. $1.65/hour. Didn't pay too well, but we never got any complaints from the customers. smile
