Thanks for the heads up about your T5. I'm still scratching my head. I learn stuff every day. It is humbling to say the least.
Since Borg Warner was making a Mustang T5 in 1985, I guess they could have chosen to use a Ford case for an Astro. It seems odd for them to do that since they were already making a Chevy pattern case since 1982, but I guess they can do anything they want.
I am curious, is your Astro T5 a world class unit?
My 1989 Safari van T5 was in a 4 cylinder van. It has a 4.03 1st gear and 0.72 5th.
