I'm not sure that the lights flashed in 1952 on emergency equipment. I say this because I can remember bing stopped by the California Highway patrol in the early 50's and they just turned a red spotlight on you. I put 6 volt flashers on my fire truck to flash the lights. I only had 2 lights on one flasher and a separate flasher for the light on the siren.
