I've asked this at least three times and no one has really given an answer:
What is so difficult about rebuilding a motor?
Not counting machine work (which it could be argued unless you have an issue is not really required) why are people saying its hard to do?
I'm curious to hear what is supposed to be so hard that takes rebuilding a motor out of the realm of the DIYer with even a modest amount of skill.
Even though I don't do my own cam bearings (I can't justify a $300 tool when I can pay a shop $35 to install) if it came down to doing it I could easily seat the bearings using an ah-hoc tool.
