Before I purchased the tailgate
chains on ebay.
I showed them to my internet friend
W.D. Foster, may he R.I.P.,
from Keller, Texas.
W.D. was a ( 10 or 11 ) state
regional sales manager for G.M. ( retired ).

W.D. had a restored '55 1st. series truck.

He told me to buy them..., quote from WD,
" they are correct for your '54 3600 "

I learned from W.D., that galvanized chains
were correct & the '54's had BLACK rubber
covers.

It's not etched in stone, but W.D., sure
seemed to know his stuff.

I purchased many rare GM NOS parts from him.

He never steered me wrong.
