I used the "bubble-wrap" type water heater insulation. I have a 2'x50' roll in my truck, it's double layered everywhere including the inside of the doors, bottom of the cowl, etc. I applied it with clear silicone, so you need to air it out, but once it's dried you carpet over it and it's nice and quiet and keeps the heat out.
