Was either your wife or kids in the truck? I know I have a similar symptom with that scenario, but usually it is in all gears. Seriously, I'm sure that you checked the condition and level of the oil, right? Does the noise take place constantly or does it fluctuate? If your oil level is good, I would suspect a bad bearing. If the oil has any water in it, you can count on a bad bearing. You can try to drain and refill the oil and hope that it helps.
