As I posted above, with the adapter plate (relocation plate) you do not use the "stock" newer-style water pump, you use a "stock" older style pump. You do not have to shorten the shaft of that older style pump.
Do you have a newer-style and an older-style water pump available, so you can compare them and so you can see the differences?
