Bad gasket at carb to manifold. Loose points, or reluctor...The list can go on and on. Fix 1 thing at a time. Test and continue until you find it. FYI, Coil and ballast are matched by resistance. If the coil reads 2 ohms use a 2 ohm resistor. If the coil reads 4 ohms then use a 4 ohm resister. How to tell an internal resisted coil? If it still has markings it will tell you if it does not...I don't know.
