1962 C60 flatbed hay truck
1962 Chevy C60 flatbed hay truck. Dad sold the ranch and I inherited two C60s. This '62 hadn't run in 20 years and I'm pretty sure Dad literally traded a horse for it needing parts to fix something else. I just started tinkering with it, no plans to restore but working to road worthiness. Reportedly the motor (235) has only one or two seasons on it. Judging by the oil and antifreeze (look new) might be true. No smoke, runs rich (the carb rebuilder guy - me- might be questionable). No real tuning effort yet. New starter, fuel pump, master cyl. Clutch cyl.and front brakes. I have bypassed the booster - figuring out what to do there (?) - just to move it around so don't know if the rear end works. Parking brake in great shape. Floor boards rusted through in couple silver dollar spots, underneath though looks great for 60. The stock rubber floor mats just hell on the floor boards. I wire brushed aggressively, vacuumed, acetoned, and Rust-Oleum red by brush. Should hold it together for the next custodian. Otherwise cab is solid. Not a body piece with out a dent though. A reasonable person would scrap the running boards.... 😠But since replacements seem to be made of gold or unobtainium, I also inherited an anvil. Plan to license and tag to sell and finance the other C60 - 63 LCF, 292 4/2, flatbed.
