Jul 21st, 2025 | | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | 1972 Chevy C-10 Cheyenne Super It was getting hard for me to drive my 1956 pickup so I decided to look for a '67-72 pickup with auto transmission and air conditioning.
I watched the ads for about six months and came across this one. It's everything I wanted including long bed so I can haul my mobility scooter to shows and swap meets. I have gone to several shows this season with it. I have stuck to small local shows this year. Last year I took it to the C/K magazine show in this area. It draws more attention then any vehicle I have ever had. I think Americans like trucks, especially old ones.
I found this truck on Craigslist in the Kansas City area. I have had it about 3 years now. It was bought new in Arkansas. The owner died & his widow left it in the garage for many years. The man I bought it from had it about 10 years but didn't use it for several of those years.
To bring it back to derivable condition, I took it to my friends shop & aired up the tires & changed all the fluids & filters. It ran & drove real good.
I ended up putting in a new radiator as the core had a-freeze stains all up & down it.
About a year latter coming back from a swap meet it started thumping & shaking. I found a separation in one of the tires so I replaced the whole set.
It is all original with 38,000 miles. It came with papers that show the mileage is actual. It needed very little work. I serviced and tuned it. Then I sold the 56.
I charged up the A/C & it works great. It leaked out a little the first year but has not lost any since. I still use R-12 in it. I have about 1 case left.
I just love this truck.

When George and I first met at the Lawrence Swap Meet, he had mentioned that a certain someone from HQ had been asking about "...more pictures..." so I offered to meet up with him at a better place than that crowded parking lot so we could get that task in hand. After a bit of conversing and matching up schedules, George and I got together yesterday and shared lunch at his favorite "burger joint", followed by a short trip to get his truck out into the sunshine for some detailed picture taking. The pictures beyond the first two previously posted are the result of that photo shoot and I think do justice to George's truck. I hope everyone enjoys looking at them as much as I did taking them! I would also mention that not only does the truck look fantastic, it runs "...like a Swiss watch...", but with that tell-tale dual exhaust small block rumble that we all love. Also, for those that may wonder about the mileage tickers reading accuracy, the picture with the displayed 40,266 miles (and counting) odometer reading is accurate and true. Many thanks to George for sharing lunch and his truck with me yesterday. I look forward to many such meet-ups in the future.  Dan

I got them from a fellow bolter but don't recall his name or handle. Another bolter installed them for me. Bowtie tim.
I thank Dan for taking the photos & posting them for me. I also thank Tim for installing the bumper guards & replacing the rear shocks on it.

I had a 69 longbed decades ago. It was such a great driver. About 20 years ago had a 72 with the 350 4 speed. Always regret selling that old truck.
