I just got off the phone with Keith Hardy. He will be adding new stuff to his site fairly soon. We hope to give him more space so that the new folks can become familiar with what he has on his site in the way of important materials related to their trucks.

But ... one thing he told me about, which was a PLEASANT surprise, GM has finally put some of their material in their Heritage Center on-line for download.

It took some hunting, but the two that I found looked like good info and even just fun looking at.

These are the Vehicle Information Kits. "As we continue to digitize our vehicle archives, we will add additional kits to this section. Please note that some of these files may be quite large. As such, they may take a long time to load on slow connections."

There is a section called Chevrolet Trucks (All Models Not Listed Below) and you'll need to click on "show" in order to see the years ... from 1930 to 2000!

Remember when they mailed these to us for free? Then, they started charging for it? Me thinks they realized there was a big interest in "old truck stuff." Hoo-ray!

The other cool link was their Historical Brochures. "The pamphlets below come from the files of the GM Heritage Center archive. They represent a small but varied sample of the types of documents, pamphlets and automobilia preserved by General Motors. We are pleased to provide the items on this page to download free of charge." It does cover a lot of different topics and the front covers are shown with titles for the link, so it's real easy to see what you might want to look at.

Back to Keith, he has over 350 manuals, brochures, bulletins, etc. listed on his main page of his On-line Chevy Manuals site. There are over 25,000 pages. He has more scanned and will upload them as soon as he gets back to sea.

We will keep smattering this info out there, especially as people find a resource ... please link to Keith's site - and even the manual itself! Whatever helps. Keith said he has unlimited band width so we are good with not overloading him. And with the donations he's gotten, he just keeps buying more manuals!

Yes, Keith Hardy's website is invaluable to all of us. It is linked-to in many posts every day.

The GM Heritage Center on-line "Restoration Pack Specifications Manuals" are also invaluable. Each manual is a large download, but if you want the specs for your truck, the Specifications Manual and a Shop Manual (and an Owners/Operators Manual) are also "necessities". Keith has many of these on his website ( for, examples: "Resto- Packs" ).

If anyone is interested, I have extracted the Serial Numbers and Colors information from the 1936-1962 Specifications Manuals and posted them on this primitive webpage.

Yeah, the Restoration Packs have been available online for quite some time and are quite a valuable resource.

As Keith said, and knows, the information has been linked often on this site and others like it.

I didn't know that GM had finally come around. So, that's good.

But we also want all those new guys to the site to be aware that there is printed material out there for them to just ... download!

Yeah, it would be nice to have more of that for us GMC guys.
Back in those years, seems a GMC was a whole nother animal.

Keith has some GMC information on his website.

If anyone has a GMC manual and you want to scan it and have Keith host it, contact him for scanning "specifications".

If anyone has has a GMC manual that you do not mind Keith scanning, contact him about doing this.

Here is what Keith sent to me yesterday:

"All the hard copy manuals I have received, I take them apart carefully, scan and then rebind them. All the manuals I have here have been done that way. Several folks have loaned manuals to me and I make sure they know what I will do to them. Most cases, the manuals are returned in the same condition or better. This is a time consuming chore, but sometimes this is the only way to obtain the information in the manual if I can not find and buy it elsewhere."

I wonder if GM will eventually add GMC to their downloads. Anyone have an idea / wanna make a guess?

And Canadian GMC's have their own differences again, from American GMC's. I empathize with you.

I haven't looked at that site in a long time. What I would like to see is actual pictures of the assembly line. A very long time ago like 10 some years ago there was a site that had photos of either blue chip or task force cabs on the assembly line, I've looked all over for it can't find anything. It would be nice if they had good color photos of the assembly lines and new trucks, at the motorama shows too.
