Driving my 1940 4x4 on rough bumps causes the oil from the air filter to slosh around and spill out.......... running a 261 with a YF carter that allows me to use the original oil bath air filter. I have a spare mesh filter I wish to convert to a paper filter........ who has done it before??? what Part # filter was used.?? Looking to maintain original external appearance of air filter can.

I understand there are different versions of the oil bath filter so this may not work for you.

I then took it to FLAPS to find something that fit. My 38 had a copper mesh at the top but no bath. The filter I replaced it with is for a tractor. Oil bath filters are relatively free flowing when clean and remain so until very dirty. They are not as effective at keeping dirt out of the engine, however.

Also note the CFM rating of the filter you are interested in, some have a really small rating since made for lawn mowers. | | |
