My truck did not have a core inside the heater box so I have noting to go by. I have bought 2 cores from sellers( on Craigslist) claiming to sell parts from 55- 59 2nd series trucks and neither of them fit. They are both way too large and the inlet and outlet do not line up with the cut out on the firewall. Does anyone have the exact measurement( length,width and depth) for the deluxe rectangular heater core. You can't even get an info page on the web for this core. I noticed there are replacement cores for the advance design trucks but when you get to the task force model there is just a big black hole there as if these trucks would never ever need replacement cores. Every one says take your core to a rad shop but you've got to have something and the right one to take.I don't know about other parts of the country but around Atlanta there are no more junk yards,all of these fellas have gone to college and now they call them salvage and recycling centers with an inflated price tag. When you tell them what year and make you are looking for they cut you off and say we don't carry anything that old they were all crushed years ago. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | your problem is not having a complete core, with tank ends, to be rebuilt, the reason the cores aren't available is they're rebuildable if you have the tanks ... FWIW, this core is 7.25" x 5.25" x 2.5" [without tanks], but note that the core tubes do not line up with the case holes, it requires the Ranco valve and rubber elbow to get there .... the thicker cores are from the cheapest dealer installed heater or from a 55-7 car heater Bill | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 2 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 2 | The Brassworks reproduces that heater core | | |
