I want to use the unused control brackets/mounts on the bottom edge of dash for the vent and heater water valve control. My question is what are the original purpose of the various controls and location? I know the heater used a bracket for thermostats on right side of lowest portion of dash (on angle). I see a lot of photos of something to left of steering wheel ( not counting brake release). What was that used for. Many places to add brackets, I just want to know what, where and why. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | In 1952, the deluxe heater used holes under the dash for: - to the left of the steering column, a control-cable for the defrost flapper in the heater box. - just to the left of the heater box, a control rod for the heater heat-control valve - also, to the left of the steering column, for the heater fan-speed control switch (used with both heaters) The locations are described, and not so clearly shown, here. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 | Thanks all. I knew about the heater temp control bracket, I was unsure about the defroster control. My truck did not have the deluxe heater. But, I had acquired the deluxe heater and proper brackets. Again, my plan is to use both for the a/c package to control heater water valve and defrost. Obviously I will use the stock defrost control location and either use the stock temp location or move it to between the ignition switch and steering column. Many factory holes under the dash to mount these brackets. | | |
