For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 41 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 41 | Hey guys I'm kinda bummed out here because I bought this 57 3100 thinkin it had the original engine in it and it turns out to be I searched my engine casting number and it's a 1957 235 out of a passenger vehicle. How can I find out if the head matches the engine or maybe get a clearer idea whether or not it's a Franken-engine? Does this mean I have hydrolic lifters? My block is 3837004, engine stamped F7I5H (the "I" I am unclear whether it is a 1 or an I), the number stamped on the heads is B38 848 850 ( the 850 is directly under the 848), and also CON4 G107. Any help would be much appreciated guys. G107 G = July 10 = 10th 7 = 1957 Here are locations of most of the useful codes on the head and block. Post both the head and block date casting codes. They should be dates that are fairly close in time to each other. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 41 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 41 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | I should have been clearer.
Where did you get information that your engine is 1957 235 out of a passenger vehicle?
38336848 is a head casting code that was used on all 1956 and later 235 heads - cars & trucks.
