I have removed gas tank sender unit to replace gasket so I though I should check unit. hooked up guage to positive on battery..hooked top of sending unit to other side of guage and ground wire to negative on battery. Gas guage reads about 1/4. when I raise float lever up which should read full it actually reads less than 1/4 on guage. any thoughts??? | | |

The case of the gauge needs to be grounded too. Your wiring should be; power to fuel gauge. Wire from gauge to sender. Body of sender AND case of fuel gauge hooked to ground. Try that, but don't blow yourself up! The electrical forum would be a great place for your next 'juice' question.  Stuart | | |
