I have a '52 1/2 ton with the SM420 4-speed and torque tube. While in the process of swapping the 3:90 rearend gears out with 3:55 gears I found out the tranny U-joint and yoke are trashed. I can't seem to find one online anywhere for the 4-speed. Does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to find a yoke? Thx in advance for any help.

If so that fits 1940-54 pass and 1/2 ton.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. I've looked at both of the websites you mentioned and they don't show the u-joint assembly (with the yoke) for the 4-speed. I believe the splines must be different. I did find Kantor Auto Products in Jersey that shows they have them ($210)and did get a reply from a Stovebolter in CA about a used one ($50). Trying to confirm what the used one is out of before deciding. Thx very much for the reply.

| | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 | I took the U joint out of a 3/4 ton with a 4 speed, had a machine shop machine out the rear part of it and also the rear part out of a 3 spd U-joint. They then welded the output spline in the 3/4 ton joint. Heavier joint than the 1/2 ton set up. Draw back..... No way to separate the u-joint a part like the 1/2 ton joint, so you need to pull the rear end back to remove the torque tube from the rear of the transmission....
