Can anybody thats in the know tell me if it is possible to shorten the shaft length without to much difficulty. I gather there is some sort of internal mechanisum that allows you to swivel the head of the light by rotating the handle. | | |

I think the spotlights come with different length shafts depending if it is a roof mount light or a door post mount. The internal mechinisum would probably make it hard to shorten.

While it can be done, it's definately easier to find a short shaft of your own. I've rebuilt a few of them & there are varying lengths, the good part is that mostly they seem to be interchangeable.
Keep an eye out on Ebay for something that looks like what you want. FYI, the shortest ones would be those made to go out the top of the cab.
