Is there a fuel hose that attaches the fuel level sender/pickup to the hardline and if so is it the same part as listed for the lower line on pickups. Also, is it possible that the 54 uses the same line as earlier models Jim Carter list one part number for 47 to 54? Hose Thanks | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Jim Carter lists the same line for 47-48 pickups (they had under-bed fuel tanks) and for 47-55 panel-body trucks. The locations of those tanks are the same.
As I recall, my 54 Suburban has no rubber hose at the tank end of the line. I can check after Jan 2, if you want me to do so.
Will you be using your original 1954/55 Suburban fuel tank? It has the combination sender/fuel-pick-up on the top of the tank (47-53 Suburban/panel has a fuel pickup lower on the fuel tank).
If you are using your original fuel tank, check with Jim Carter to be sure that line will work with the 54/55 fuel pick-up location.

I've got a new fuel sender/pick-up that has a female inverted flare interface. I'll have to check my receipts to see where I bought the unit and check it's application. I think it may have been for a pick-up truck.
It seems odd that the same tubing would fit both tank configurations. | | |
