I set the front bumper on some 4x4 blocks so it would sit correct at ride height. I made sure it was level (.1 degrees using a digital level). I setup the rear of frame onto jack stands and again made sure it was level. Using a level is checked several different places on the frame and it continued to be about .1 degree unlevel. I started doing measurements to make sure it was level side to side and found that the running board was about 1/2 to a full inch difference from the ground to the bottom of the running boards when compared the measurements on the driver side to passenger side. I then check from the ground to the top of the actual frame and it came out correct. So my question is does the running boards on the driver side sit higher than the passenger side or is my running board brackets actually bent? | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Or is your floor level and flat enough to reference from? | | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 | If I'm not mistaken I did check that the floor was level in those places but I will recheck it again just to make sure. I'm not saying that my floor might not have some low places there. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . No reason the factory would have had one higher than the other. | | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 | Grigg
That was my initial thoughts but I never know. You know how it is when it comes to them people from Detroit. Sometimes we all scratch our heads and say what were they think there...Lol

So maybe they are ever so slightly bent lower than the passenger side. Makes sense to me. If that matters to you, you could use shims if bending isn't an option. That would be hard. | | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2009 Posts: 97 | Deve,
You could be right but I believe the passenger side was the lower side. I'll recheck and remock everything next time I have my frame pulled out. I had to move it back out of the way so I can do a brake job and other general maintenance on a car for somebody. Good thing is, I'm hopping next time it's pulled out there will be some molten metal being done, not just temporary mockup for research.
