on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 1 Moderated | | Moderated Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 1 | I am new to this forum, I have a 50 gmc 1 1/2 ton truck with a good body on just setting around, and was pondering if it could be put on a 77 chevy 3/4 ton, 350 engine 4x4 frame. I have found a good mechanically sound 77 3/4 ton, but the body is rusted out. Was wondering if anyone has ever done any thing like this. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 | 50 frame dimensions Since no seems to have info maybe this will help you figure it out.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else

I cut a portion of the original truck frame and welded it on top of the 73 4x4 frame which provided all the cab mount, running board mounts and about a 7" lift but lowered the center of gravity. There are lots of pictures on photobucket, see my signature lines. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | It can definitely be done. Frame swaps are for those with some fabrication skills. Since that was your first post here I don't know what level of experience you have.
I wouldn't do as Vern did (above), I just don't like stacking frames. I would rather fab my own body and bed mounts, but that's my preference.
The reason this isn't a highly popular swap is that a lot of guys don't want to go 4WD and the wider track of the full size, but if you're wanting something 4WD with a higher stance, this is your best bet.
