I'd like to put some sort of stop light bar or third stop light in the center somewhere on the back of my '57 3600 dump bed. I know this isn't an original look but I feel like I need to make the vehicle safe for today's driving. How does one incorporate a stop only light into a system that is wired for stop/turn? | | |

I think a simple method would be to tag a wire off the stoplight switch to the light bar. This would bypass the turn signal conglomeration and only allow the light bar to illuminate in a steady fashion when the brakes are applied.
I think there is also a little solid state device you can buy that attaches to a brake/turn wire and negates the blinking, giving you a steady light. This is how modern rigs with the third light work.

I took the cover off, taped up the socket and shot the inside w/ bright white paint. Shows up real well against my 'Farm Use' plate. Wired it direct to the brake light stop switch on the firewall. I fabbed a metal bracket to hold the light in place off my wooden end boards.
