How important are these pans? I'm going from 216 to 235 and they will take lots of modification if not total replacement as they are in very poor condition and not usable. Dave

Can you post a photo of the filler pans? Might you be referring to inner fenders?

Mine are a bit bigger, the exhaust and road tube go through them, BUT they are in the wrong position for the 235 and are in terrible shape. Dave

I have seen trucks without them so would guess removing them would not cause any real issues. | | | | Joined: May 2012 Posts: 256 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2012 Posts: 256 | Most people seem to refer to them as splash pans, and a lot of them have been removed and tossed... I have mine in my vehicle, keeps out the road debri and gunk, but if it never sees rain or bad road conditions...
Can you get a set for the 235 ?? or still requier mods ?? or maybe fabricate something similar for your application ?? 1929 Chevrolet AC International - 4 Door1930 Chevrolet AD Universal - Canopy Express TruckLove the Antique Chevrolet's from 1928-1932 The Beauty, Simplicity, History, and the Stories they Tell[/font] - - In the Stovebolt Gallery-- In the Gallery Forum | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 237 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 237 | I am currently in the process of doing the exact same thing on my 1946 Suburban.
In my case I am using a 216 intake and exhaust manifold so the left hand side is not an issue. On the 216 the exhaust comes straight down while on the 235 it slopes back at about 30 degrees.
On the right hand side I may have to modify the road tube to fit but I am striving for originality so my needs/values may be different.
I doubt that it makes much difference either way. | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | There is no need to keep them in there if you don't want to. | | |
