I guess you guys think I am dumb, but this is the first 57-59 GMC LCF for me...
I bought aftermarket rubber sleeves to connect the 2 heater assys. together and the one for the fresh air connection. Those things fit tight!! It was all I could do to just get one on while on the workbench. I had to order ones for a pickup, they sure seem too small. It is the deluxe heater.

Anyone have tips for connecting those things while under the dash, trying to mount the 2 heater assemblies?

maybe put them on out of the truck and keep the assembly in a warm place for awhile to let the rubber "set" to the stretch and shape ... they do need to be tight to do their job

Thanks, Bill. I do have one of them stretched over some 2x4 wood blocks and letting them sit under a heat bulb. Been sitting for 2 or 3 days now. Will see what happens.

Any time I try to fit a rubber or similar tight hose, I use hand cleaner as a lubricant. Dish washing soap is also good!

I was gonna say dish soap too.
