I can't find where to get new brake shoes for my 41 Chevy 1.5 ton. I would be willing to send them off to have them re-lined. Anyone got a company name for me? And, any articles, (with pics  ), to help me with this project would be great. The manual is not that descriptive. You may find him in the phone book under brake and clutch, or start by asking your real auto parts guys.
As long as your brake cores are good it should not be a problem. The guy I found locally had to order the friction material, but it was not too expensive.

Automotive Manufactures, Inc. in Richmond, VA. They relined 4 shoes for the bus cheaper than I could have purchased them for, if I could have found them.(and I couldn't).
I also needed shoe return springs for the rear and couldn't find them anywhere. Found a shop in Xenia, OH, Timac Spring Manufacturing, Inc. They advertised "no job to small". Couldn't believe they made 12 return springs exactly to spec. for such a low price.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Great service! I told them I had to clean them up first, because they were all coated with grease and gunk. He said, "don't worry about that, just put them in a plastic bag, box 'em up and send 'em...we'll take care of them."
And they did! Came back quickly and brand new. I'll be interested in your experience with them before making future recommendations.

I bet they would also reline the brake "shoes" on the drive-shaft brake?
With Priority Mail fixed-rate-box shipping and no out-of-state sales tax, sending shoes off is not a bad deal.
