OK, converted my 54 3100 to 12V. Had the generator converted. Install a 12V regulator, 12V coil, ballast resistor. Polarized at the regulator. Changed all
Bulbs and added voltage reducer on fuel gauge.
Started did not show discharge, but it was ok. Ran it for awhile, gauge pegged to discharge, generator was smoking. Looked like battery leaked fluid.
What happen? What did I mess up?

Have you checked the current and voltage output of the new setup? Until you actually know what it's doing all you're doing is guessing.

Had the generator and regulator checked. The new regulator was bad. The auto electric place replaced it. So should be good to go. Will install tonight.
