Got a pull out of a 2002 Camaro; engine, trans, all accessories and computer/cruise. Wiring harness from Painless and it was the easiest thing in the world. Started on first pull and runs/drives great. If anyone is interested, or needs help with the conversion, give me a call. These engines are readily available all over and it is easier than a small block. 601-898-4718 Allen

We have done numerous LS conversions and it's getting increasingly popular. These engines are without a doubt one of the BEST (and UGLIEST) ever built. So ugly they make a cover to completely hide them from view. Someone is now making conventional ribbed valve covers with the coils mounted below which helps a bunch. We make a very easy to fab up steam tube kit and a lower hose connector to angle the outlet down towards the lower radiator outlet instead of pointing straight out to the side---a problem in skinny nosed cars/trucks of the 1930's.

What is an LS1 smile What years did they run?

elspydro, what did the engine/tranny cost you in your neck of the woods?? Curious minds want to know these things!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I am considering putting one in place of the 350/350 combo in my brothers 40 3/4 ton.

I would like to see the lower rad outlet.

I just installed one in a 65 long bed for a customer this summer, it was a truck motor and we left it stock and ran a 4L65E, vintage air and dakota digital dash. It is a perfect driver, I put app 200 miles on it back and forth to the shop to make sure there weren't any bugs and it was awesome. Not as fast as my 468 powered 37, but so far a great daily driver

As for cost here, we picked up the under 100k 5.3L from a 2000 pickup and trans complete fan to driveshaft with harness and all the acc for $1300. Guy in Tulsa redid the harness and computer for $350, I did the rest.
When the yard gets full on the 5.3's they put them on sale for app $500 each.

I got an all aluminum 2002 Camaro with 70,000 miles, 4L60E, all the accessories gen, starter, exhaust, AC, cruise control, throttle cables accelerator and computer for about $5000. You can get them cheaper than that but I knew the source and he always works with me ie the power steering was broken and he sent me another free. The truck engines are about the same as the aluminum but with iron block (plus 50 pounds)and lot cheaper. The engines lower radiator hose needs to have a neck that goes down, speedway??

Don't have my books but the LS-1 came after the LT-1 and I believe it started in about 98 but don't quote me. They have been putting them in everything from trucks to Corvettes. They are light weight, computer controlled and are almost indestructible. Just get the whole package when you pull one to include the trans and computer. Power is 325-400 hp. I would not be afraid of one with over 250,000 miles on it. Buy a wiring harness from a reputable vender, have them flash the computer (generally free and takes 30 sec)to rid yourself of the back oxygen sensors and theft control and plug and play. The prices fluctuate but there are bunches out there for prices like you said. Lots of folks recognize the reliability and good mileage you get from the conversion. Unless I had a small block on hand, I would favor the LS hands down for simplicity. 601-898-4718 Allen
