So, I think I know how the parking brake release goes back together, but the washer under the spring, the leather seal, and the exact spring placement has me confused. So my questions are:
1. Does the leather seal (
#3 ) go inside the "pocket" (
pocket ) on the bracket? If so, why is it so much smaller than the pocket. What is the orientation (long dimension vertical or horizontal)? What keeps it in place other than the brake pedal rod (see question #2)?
2. Does the lock bar spring thread into the bracket hole and rest on the pocket/leather seal? The spring does not fit in the hole, but I guess it can be treaded in. If so, does the spring (or washer, see question #3) hold the seal in place?
3. Does the small washer go under the spring (between bracket pocket/seal and spring)? If so, is washer #1 (
#1 ). The washer diameter is smaller than the spring. This washer will not fit on the end of the pedal shaft...if wrong washer, what is correct washer size?
And finally, I read that paint on the pedal arm rod is not a good idea...I plan on blasting the paint off and zinc electroplating the rod.
Thanks, in advance, for help/clarification
