I am missing a spring on the return when you step on the gas pedal...where does the spring connect to down by the motor...Does anybody have a pics to show me...

You didn't answer my question..I already have the throttle cable and choke cable attached....i have no return when I push on the gas pedal...I believe I must be missing a spring that attaches from the arm (when I say arm I mean the 1/4 shaft that comes from the gas pedal...half way on my arm I have a clip with a hole..it appears to be where a spring was attached and other end I have no idea with...that is my question where does the other end attach to...the side of the block?

Holcomb,,disregard the "clowns" that throw in stupid answers just to be "jokers". theres a spring that goes from the bell crank on the throttle linkage to a point on the block to put tension on your throttle linkage for the return.
i dont have a picture but if you look at where your gas peal rod goes to the pivot point,the spring goes there back to a stud on the block,,or down to the lil clip sticking up from the side of the oil pan.

I think Holcomb now knows to post once in one forum. He probably now understands that most people who use this site check out all the forums and an answer usually shows up in a reasonable amount of time.

We would gather round the coffee pot first thing in the morning and someone would always get it. If you were lucky you missed your turn in the barrel, but if ya were to slow they’d get ya and ya just had to grin and bare it.

As a side note, (seems like we're havin a hard time staying on task here) the throttle spring that I got from the vendor seemed a whole bunch to heavy for me. When the vertical link started to bow in the middle I figured I better find one with a little less tension. All this stuff wears out fast enough, it doesn't need any help from an over tensioned spring. Luckily I keep about every spring that I run across, plus some and I had the one in the picture, that gave me that just right feel.

you guys didn't scare me away...I have students who bring guns and knifes to school...involved in huge gangs...big riots...cops everyday on campus which then they try and burn the building down I work in....so thick skin huh...you haven't seen nothing dude. Glad to see ya back Mr. Holcomb. Don't envy you having to teach those second graders, thay can be a real challenge. And glad to help ya out when ever we can.
Although I eat, slept and drank cars when I was a teenybopper back in the late 50’ I’m I have been engaged in other endeavors for the last forty odd years. I’m a newbe here also and have found this site and these guys to be an invaluable resource and would never have been even close to where I am in my restoration with out them.
Now don’t ya go and grade this paper, ya hear!!
