The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Under dash connection, voltage reducer or what?

We are in the process now of rewiring the '53 Bolt. We are at a loss to explain what the connection block looking thing is; any advice?

To me they look like full wave bridge rectifiers. They are only half hooked up though. They aren't stock for anything....what is the rest of the story on your rig?? Fire apparatus, what's with that!

Thanks...whatever a full wave bridge rectifier is, we then have one? Glad it's full; I hate to do anything half way.
I had a picture of an International 36 Pumper up on that page for identification (which was done by the Bolters), and then just used that URL in putting up my full half bridge wave rectifier :-).
The truck is a '53 bolt, started as a small paint job and has escalated into a complete resto. I might as well have started with catogues and built up from there. Amazing lessons from this truck.

I guess that little note didn't help much did it!. A full wave bridge rectifier changes AC voltage to DC voltage. I don't know if that is what those things actually are, and I sure wouldn't know why they would be on the truck.

Because that idea is pretty bizarre, maybe they are something else. They would only be there if there was a special purpose intended for the truck or for that particular circuit.

They are not stock, and following the wires to their location might shed a bunch of light as to what they do...maybe the truck was a field operations station for the KGB and had a short wave radio installed with a direct link to the Kremlin.

Keep searching, you don't want that gob of stuff under your dash!

wow! haven't seen one of those for years. that is a GM accesory terminal for part # 53987400-2: 1953 only ELECTRIC DOG POLISHER! i would e-bay it and then retire.

What is the rheostat looking devise at the top? Looks like a heater control or panel light switch. I am not sure the spade connectors were used in 1953 and also don't remember pop rivets being around at that time.
