For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | I'm in the process of installing an airflow heater in my 53 burb. I've read a lot of posts but first, wanted to clarify that a 6 volt fan motor will not last long in a 12 volt system? Next item, the fan switch, just on/off or should it be variable speed? Finally does the fan motor have to be a specific type in order to use a variable speed switch? Vehicle has been converted to 12 volt. Thanks, Phil | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | The original toggle switches were 'ON-HI-LO'.
Don't try running your 6v motor on 12v Phil, taint like the starter, you'll fry it for sure. Gotta use the reducer as Brad pointed out to drop the 6v across.

If the 6v motor still works, I betcha a Stovebolter with a broken 6v heater motor would like to have it.
