Given your data I'd ask

What does the spark plug look like...
1. Now. If you were to pull it as it sits.
2. What's a NEW plug look/smell like after an attempt?

Also was the 'blue spark' from the plug wire to ground or the plug itself to ground?

Are you getting any signs of combustion?

And try to at least clean all the plugs up... maybe squirt a bit of starter fluid(ether) down in the plug (not the cylnder) and blow them out with compressed air. If you get some fire with the points gapped and clean plugs you may get some indication at least if it wants to fire. then new plugs if it'll run.

When you set the timing, the points should just be starting to open the motor is set at TDC.
