Getting ready to re-wire my '47 3100, and I believe that I may have an aftermarket ignition switch (since I looked for the ignition switch light bracket and it does not seem to be there and there is a knurled bezel on the outside/dash side of the ignition.) Currently the truck has two keys: one for the ignition and another for the door and glovebox.
Getting a factory correct switch and bracket is not a priority, but when the time comes, do I need to get the ignition, door, and glovebox keyed together?
When new, did the truck have one key that operated/opened all three, or was there an ignition key and a separate key for the door and glove box?
Thanks in advance,
Bill

That also gives you an exterior lock on both doors. If you can find a good locksmith take all the cylinders and have them changed, but the conversion on the glove box door is not reversible.

I no longer rely on "what I remember" anymore. I looked it up and here's what I Found .It sucks getting old! ...........g | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Key number stamped on the knockout plug? Does anyone have a list of the codes or would you have to get them from a Locksmith?
Back a half century ago when I was a Chevy Parts man I used to re-key new locks that we stocked but all I remember now is a box of parts and a hand punch we used to cut a new key. I think there was a book with the codes in it but that's a real foggy picture in my mind.
