I give up on Transport Blue , I've heard good things about Blitz Black....anybody want to chime in ?????

If you do a search here and a google search you will find lots of information. BB is very popular with the hot rod crowd.

Blitz black is very durable and long lasting, and has a nice sheen to it (Satin Black instead of flat). It's 100X better thean DuPont Hot Rod Black, don't even consider that product. Buy Blitz Black in a spray can and try it out. I think you'll be very impressed.

I bought it back in 96 when I had less money than I do now for my 37 just to get paint on it before it was a fad. It has held up very well, I drove it daily with out rear fenders for years and it held off rock chips etc better than expected. It will also go on with out a base of primer, so that was nice. I was told then to use their thinner, not sure if you have to or not, but it was also cheap.

If you want black, I say go for it.

I assume 'Blitz black' is a top coat finish and not porous like some other satin black finishes?

Yes, it's a top coat. It's very durable and long-lasting.

Some of the others get streaky and show bug stains, but blitz black doesn't.

What about Dupli-Color Jet black with Matte clear coat?

Did you miss a tongue in cheek icon or was that a sincere question?

I'd 'maybe' consider that for a wiper motor rebuild... or the back of the gauge cluster.
I've shot some DP for OT stuff. It's handy to match stuff with in a pinch but I wouldn't use it on anything I have any 'Assumptions' about lasting on.

SPI makes a flat back that can be mixed/reduced for varying degree's of 'flatness'. It would be a step or three up from BB were the DP a step or two down, in both longevity and quality.

Caso, It's more of a question.

I like the satin black/suede look. I just thought it may be an alternative to the JD paint.

Caso , do u have any facts to back up BB being 3 steps below SPI or is just your opinion.... I like BB. it sprayed v. good , from what I'm told and read it holds up v. good....My Cab looks great..
I don't know about SPI but BB comes in a rattle can.... great if you need touch up ....

Well the fact that BB comes in a spray can is the first one.... that's a pretty good start right there. Drops it into the DP, Rustoleum, Krylon, end of the quality scale.
So it's the best of the least desirable and as such it gets it's props as "best" or "better".

Being great for touch up is just another way of saying
"It chips, flakes or fades and this covers it up"

Yeah it's my opinion, but I'm not alone in it and I'm not even a professional shop.

I shot some activated rustoleum on a freight cart resto and it looked great too. Still does, but ten years hasn't passed yet.

I don't mind what anyone chooses, I just want any novice who is looking here to learn something, to be aware there is more to consider than cheap tractor paint...
And BB is tractor paint...

If you're judging it solely on it being tractor paint and coming in a spray can then you're way off. All paint chips, and requires touch up at some point. Blitz Black is extremely durable. Maybe you should try it sometime.

If I needed a flat black for something I'd go with SPI.
I've used their Base, Clear, SS, and Epoxy so I know what I'm working with there. Having the ability to control the amount of 'flat' with the SPI would be a plus as well.

Then don't badmouth or 'rate' a product you've never used...
