Hey guys, I'm putting a 50 GMC truck back together, owner pulled alot of it apart before I enhearited the project. But 9 grand later I've gotten to the doors and putting in the window channals, (all new stuff). A thin rubber strip with one side reased edge, I think goes in the top between upper door frame and channal. Tried differant ways but no matter what, it gets in the way of the inner trim frame mounting screws.
I work like 24-7 and do alot of project vehicles along with running my shop. So projects are mostly night & weekends. This truck is one of many that I have done restoration work or customizing on. Just not sure how this rubber strip goes in. Some help or pics would be great.

Well, I have figured it out. the reased edge goes against the out-upper molding inside the top and contours the channal. Then the inner mtrim sandwitches the channal in place. Ya'all keep-um straight out there. See Ya.

Thanks guys, The strip is that first pic, did not see that channal under the outter bottom side. Has old petrified rubber nubbed in there. Now I can get it done right.
Thanks again. If I learn how to insert pics, or if they will let me I'll post this project in pics, lot work was done here. kinda frustrated myself with this door seal, all else went smooth. I didi notice that the pic you show of the opening relay, looks up-side down. mine were installed that way also but had to switch them around to diferant side and could only use 2 of the mounting bolts, but now my door panals fit better. the relay arm at the handle was rubbing bad against the pannal and pushing it out way to far. So I re-installed them to were the lever arm from the handle is in the lower indention of the door. They work great and door panal fits good now. Brothers in truck,,,, Have a great day and thanks again. call me BadBob.

The earlier years ran the door relays in the channel

If you have a door relay for a 47 or 48 ? you can mount them the way you described.

The 50 mounts the way I have pictured.

You might have to push your Handel to open the door.

Ya, they work eather way. This truck seams to be a mut. its titled a 52 GMC, but the doors are definitly 47 to 50. the vin plate starts with 101.But it don't have the factory rivoits. I ordered a head liner for a 47 to 51 and its 2 peace, front & rear, some kinda trim I don't have or is my cab a 52?. I can just tell ya its a pain in the cabboose to order parts. Well catch ya on the next reply.

The 47 48 door looks like it don't have the contour from bottom of window to bottom of the panal edge. Looks straight. Mine has a contoured panal, not straight, its a full window, no vent glass. My door panal has to bend near the top to fit the door panal over the relay. When the relay is mounted the other way it pokes out and rubs the back of the panal. Its confusing, I've ordered both sets of window chanals, thats a fun job.(sarcasticly)
