know any companies that will "rebuild" wiper motor? Motor works, but hot wire insulation is breaking and wipers don't park.

I have been trying to find someone to repair my 1954 RPO 320A electric wipers, too. These repairmen have been recommended to me. I haven't delt with them and I can't vouch for the quality of their work.

The park mechanism may have been a weak part of the wipers. Mine has a broken spring and broken park adjustment contact. Stovebolter "jorb" recently saw two '54 wipers on ebay - neither parked correctly. A few weeks ago I bought a '54 wiper on ebay that "jorb" also showed to me. Haven't tried to run it yet to see if it works and parks. If it doesn't, I hope that I can salvage good parts from my wiper and from the ebay wiper to make one good motor.

You may not be able to fix your wiper, but you may be able to spot the problem and evaluate the repair person's knowledge.

A little trivia ...

Electric wipers were offered on Chevrolet trucks for the first time in 1954 as RPO #320A, list price $9.75. The same 6v unit #5047765 was used for only a year and a few months ... 1954/1955first.

You can spot trucks that have RPO 320 electric wipers by the two large screws in the center of the dash that hold the mounting plate.

thanks for info Lonnie. You know, I am not going to be able to drill holes in that dash. It ain't going to happen. I think the vacuum one is going back in. I may be the guy that bought the two motors you saw on ebay. They will probably be going back on at some point. I probably wont drive it in the rain anyway.
