need to put turn signals on my 1950 flat bed truck that doesnt look like it ever had any. truck came with a box of after market misc. including a aftermarket universal unit that mounts on the column with a hose clamp. it looks pretty plastic and out of place any advice on another option?
also the tail lights i was going to use have a common turn and brake bulb. how do you keep the circuits separate? right now my brake light switch has two poles and if i wire this to my tail lights left and right turn will be the same. thanks in advance for all the help.

the separation of turn and brake happens in the signal unit, the wire from the brake light switch [only one, the other is from the power point] goes via the signal unit, not direct to the rear lights, the selected brake light becomes the turn signal while the other brake light functions as normal .... if you want something looking more "vintage" you can look around at what's available [2 at the bottom here], back in the day the only thing available was the clamp on deal, otherwise you might consider a toggle switch under the edge of the dash

There were several different types of switches. If yours has 3 or 5 wires the brake circuit does not run through the turn switch. You will need separate lamps.

ordering the standard duty turn signaler from american classic. i assumed they would have the brake signal input to allow me to use the one bulb. while i am here lmc offers two heasdlite switches for my year in 12v one with and one without brake circuit. any guesses

If its a 7 wire switch it will have that function
