I have a 57 with a 265 under the hood. The previous owner in his infinite wisdom...cut all the ignition wires for some reason. I have no idea which wire goes where on the connectors (back side of the ignition/behind the dash) I have purchased a manual and written everything down, but MY connectors don't look like the 235 OR the V-8 version. Here's what I have:
2 green wires, a purpleish wire, a brown wire, and a red fat wire hanging under the dash.
I purchased a used set of dash wires from a bolter on another site. THAT ignition has the same connections that the manual shows for a v-8.
The problem is that the book shows 2 pink wires running into the plug and I have 2 green wires. I also have a light blue wire running from the top of the starter through the firewall and laying in the open.
I am SO CLOSE to trying to fire off the little 265 I can taste the foul exhaust already.
if I could get a picture of the back side of the plug, I would know which connector to pop the wires onto. Another avenue would be to purchase a new wire kit and redo the whole truck. I plan to do this eventually, but I just want to see if the engine will fire or not. If I buy the wire kit, I need one with a generator. If the engine doesn't fire with that, then I am buying a new engine and having to rewire the new kit for an alternator.
Anybody got any help for this one?
Thanks-Dano
