Mods may move this but I was not sure where to put it..

I'm looking to add a heater to my 49 half ton and wondering if anyone has used this heater...Vintage Air Gen II. Lemme know if you like it and what maybe you don't like...noisy ?. enough heat ? general opinion..

Didn't buy mine from Summit as I'm a VA dealer, but I used one in a '52 3/4ton GMC. Nice and small fits up under the dash and puts out plenty of heat and airflow.
I looked for some pictures of the truck, but I don't have any that showed the unit installed.

Not meaning to try and drum up business...I'm sure that's probably against the rules. They're about $.03 cheaper than me. PM me if you want.

The blower motor itself isn't loud at all. The blower moves plenty of air, so on high you can hear that. The rest of the truck was pretty stock, so it wasn't all that quiet in the cab to begin with.
It *will* keep you warm.

Thanks for that, Amigo. Do I need any parts to hook up the defrost ? I bought from Summit cuz it's close and shipping was free.

Looks like it's got everything you need.

Thanks Crow,

I ended up buying from Summit...they are close and offered free shipping. I have not had it installed yet but will next week. Took a look at all that's included and it appears to be a good unit. Thanks for your input..

There was and then I edited it... I have one in my '46. My truck is well insulated and weather stripped, so it is very quiet inside the cab. On high you know the fan is blowing, but it's not very intrusive, and you only really need high speed if the outside temperature is close to freezing. The electric servo-controlled water valve is great, as is the servo-controlled heater flap on the bottom of the heater to change between defrost and heat. Everything you need is included. You will be very happy with it, I have looked at and used others and in my opinion this one is the best on the market. When you do use it, make sure that before you shut the heat off (on warm days specifically) that you turn the heat setting all the way to low and give it a second to close the servo valve and start blowing cold. This way the servo valve will close and you won't get unnecessary heat in the cab. We install them differently, using the 90° steel bends to go directly through the firewall, and then mounting the servo valve under the hood. It works great this way and keep the heat out of the cab when it's off.

Right you are. My truck had only 800 KM when I took it on a trip 3 weeks ago about 1600 km through the mountains. The mountains in mid-September definitely require a heater, as temperatures are regularly around freezing overnight.
