Bill | | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 57 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 57 | if it is the old windshield gasket it is best to get a new gasket.. so just take a razor knife and cut the old seal next to the glass toward the body from the outside to get the windshield out.. if it is a new seal i have worked slowly and lifted the seal from the body flange while pushing out from the interior side..but very very very much caution and soapy water must be used and dont get in a hurry.. but maybe someone else knows a better way | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 | With a sharp utility knife, cut the rubber around the windshield.
Have a friend help you lay the windshield out and store it.

I just had it done a few days ago and I'm glad I wasn't the one doing it. It took two guys two hours. The installer said that curved windshields with trim in the rubber were a nightmare to install. The '64-'66 Chevy/GMC truck windshields, with the stainless steel trim, is a bit challenging, but not too tough, with the right approach. Put the stainless in the rubber, put the rubber on the windshield & put the assembly in the hole.
