It was early in the morning and I was not fully awake. It looks just like a regulator that is for a generator system. The 3 terminals, left to right, are marked Bat, Arm, Fld. Can a voltage regulator stated for an alternator system work on a generator system? Your comments will be appreciated Walt Williams La Verkin, UT

The gen. reg. is rectangular in shape & has 3 screw terms. The alt. reg. is rectangular & has a plug in term set with 4 blades.

A generator works by passing wires through an PERMANENT magnetic field, the generator has magnets bolted inside the case. A generator regulator for the most part controls the flow that comes out of the generator.
An alternator works by passing a wires through an ELECTROMAGNETIC field, its regulator controls the electromagnet.
Two completely different birds.
