It has several pin holes, I took a dental tool to it and punched several times into it. I looked at buying new but the shipping to AK was more than the cost of the tank so I thought I would try a repair. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I will steam it first. What are the thoughts, weld, solder? Dave

At the time a new tank wasn't even made so the only option I had was to repair. I had the holes brazed shut, acid cleaned the inside then lined it with RedKote. It's been eight, going on nine years now with no problems.

I have also filled them with water ,but prefer to purge.

Follow the procedures to the "T" and it has now worked for almost 15 years. It was just what I had at the time. I know other ways are just as good and if I had it to do again I'd certainly have brazed the holes first before doing the por15 thing. Good luck. YOu can do it. | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 212 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 212 | I had mine relined and it lasted for about 5 years . The pin holes came back. I bought a repair kit from Napa for gas tank repair. It worked and I cannot smell any gas .It has been a year so far so good. | | | | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 30 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 30 | Do not worry about the pin holes. POR15 will fix it, and ot will seal anything on the inside siurface, like rust. Did mine 15 years ago. | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 | JB weld or some of the gas tank patch putty get it clean and the glue type stuff works well.
