bought myself a '93 S-10 (2 wheel drive, 5 speed, I think 2.8 liter V-6, power steering, power brake, air) dead truck for chassis swap. Before I screw with my '53 GMC (which I value dearly), I figured I'd throw my old bonus built ford cab on there and learn the pitfalls. It might help me better learn if I want to do similar to my GMC someday or modify stock chassis. My question is to you guys that have done or researched these swaps, how do I know what type 5 speed is in it (are there diffeerent ones) and out of about 7 jillion codes on the glovebox door liner, which one is supposed to be rear diff code??
Also, if this is a 5 speed that can be used behind small block (and I have a spare 265), if the starter gear ring for the 265 block is roughly 1/2", would I still have to trim down the 5 speed input shaft? I'd rather get my learning curve on this Ford (which is missing the bed anyhow) than my '53 GMC.
