Just a new thread to hear who left when, who got home - who didn't ( not me ).

What a weekend! I have no voice left. I got out of the hotel right about 4:45 and the flight was fine. Home by 1 p.m. and took a good long nap. Neighbor came and took me home to feed me (like we haven't had enough food all weekend). I'm gonna be ready for a good night's sleep.

John called about 4-ish and they were on the road heading East.

You all are some crew. You make this event easier and easier to do each year, even tho it gets bigger and bigger. You all are "some bunch!"

Vicki and I got out about ten this morning after John witnessed the new braking system that I found out today on loading a truck with no brakes.
We got home about 2:30 afternoon with no more issues.
Got the vitals taken care of and kicked back for the rest of the evening.
Great weekend with a bunch of great people.
We just can't hang in the heat like we used to.

Gloria and I left the motel around 11am and pulled into Branson, Missouri around 3:30 pm to check into the resort. Nice place! Looks like we will have a great week down here. It was nice to see everyone this weekend. What a great bunch of guys and gals. You couldn't fine any better. Sorry for the ones that couldn't make it this year. You were missed.

John called about 9 last night to say they had made it almost to the Indiana border. They were stopping for dinner - unsure if they would continue on or break for the night.

It was funny how tired we all looked when we hit the "break room" Saturday night. But once the talking started, it was hard to say goodnight and move out of there. I figured I could sleep when I got home - and I did!

Oh, and I think John said the Stovebolters won a trophy for the best turn-out. I think that's what he said.

Good job gang!!!!!!!!!!!! yahoo

Ron,

I think someone said it earlier or somewhere else ... we aren't as young as we use to be! Like Mongo, we all come back to our realities (sigh) and piles that have been growing. Mongo had the whole week off, so I'm sure our "energy guy" has a big catching up to do, and probably a wrap up of the entire show.

Still worth it ... grin

Finally arrived home Monday afternoon, just before 3. Lots of good experiences, loved seeing the caves, good to see the Alderson's too, and of course all the stovebolters, including some new ones. The panel treated me far better than expected. Some areas I was doing 75 mph, other areas a bit slower depending on the speed limit and traffic volume.I travelled 1100 miles going back and used 62 gallons, 17.75 miles per gallon.

Another successful reunion. Special thanks go to John and Peggy for all their preparation, the Aldersons and Wards for hosting the Thursday night "Cave-Fest", Mike Taylor for the tables and sun-shades etc., the "Gals" for 'manning' the hospitality booth and T-shirt sales, Mongo for all his work, Don and Vicky for the 'chalk board' and the grub they provided Saturday night, and all the others who pitched in. It was great to see old friends and to meet some new ones. Looking forward to next year!

I had a real blast attending the reunion. What a great bunch of truly wonderful people I met. I got to ride all the way down and back in Leo's panel. It is much smoother than my 1 Ton! I also had a nice ride in John's big truck and that was fun!

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this happen. It is truly appreciated.

We stopped in at Denny Graham's on the way home and I got to meet him in person. That was truly an enjoyable experience.

Fred

Dint get to make it again this year, gotta quit moving round
then maybe I can afford a long weekend holiday.
But....Fred and Leo stopped by for a few minutes Sunday and got
the 25cent tour of the mess I've made out here, and filled me
in a bit. They must have gotten a good nights sleep cuz they
still looked refreshed and raring to go after driving 500+ miles
up here to Illinois. Meet Leo a couple of years ago and I was
glad to put a face to Fred after talking with him all these
years thanks to the Stovebolt gang.
Glad everyone made it back to the daily grind without incident.

Think I'll start putting my penny's in the piggy jar right now so
I can make it out to KC next year.

As posted elsewhere, Joe and I got back to HQ safely yesterday at about 1430 hrs local. For those expecting fuel vouchers ... fahgeddaboutit! Here are my numbers:

Total miles: 2,360
Fuel burned: 323 gallons of diesel fuel (and I haven't filled up yet to account for the fuel burned between Raphine, VA and home)
Engine Time: 53.6 hours
Average mileage: 7.3 MPG (Estimated as I have not figured in fuel for final leg yet)

Average in-cab temperature: Half way between "Sun" and "Super Nova" smile

I left the show on Saturday night about 2000hrs and was home by 2030. It is really going to be a drag to actually have to make a trip to attend the show. Should give me a good opportunity to exercise the burb.

I have no idea where we'll be at this time next year. Only one thing is for sure and that is that we won't live in MO anymore.

Had an awesome time at the reunion. It was a top notch event. I'm looking forward to next year.

Thanks

Larry -- Lots of great (and one or two not so great ...) opportunities here in the greater DC area -- then you could join the ODSS and convoy with us next year. smile

Joe -- In my book it does! You certainly get the Iron Butt award!

I agree. Joe rode along for more than twice the distance I did to South Bend and back. Even without an exhaust leak at his feet I think that qualifies.
No wonder he was eager to get home.
