Hi all, after installing the transmission on my 66 truck I noticed that the clutch does not feel with tension and when I try to change from neutron to any gear it makes a grinding sound. I think that something in the clutch went out of position during the installation of the transmission. Please let me know what parts I need to check.

Thanks

You need to trace the linkage from the pedal to the bell housing. Something probably slipped out. The fork rides on a ball in the bell housing & the forks go in the grooves in the TO brg. You can remove the lower cover & look up to see if it all working. You can have someone work the clutch pedal as you watch the action.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

did you do anything to the clutch itself at the same time, like perhaps replacing it. people are usually a little short on describing what they did - leave out a few details.
there is also a v shaped wedge which goes on the end of the adjustable rod from the z-bar to the throw out arm(at the throw out end) easy to misplace and then not realize that it is required

I just removed the transmission to replace the rear seal, bearings, gaskets, and cleaning. I did not do anything to the clutch. I will check the mentioned parts and will let you know.

Thanks

Yesterday, I went thru the linkage while some body else was pressing the pedal and looks that it's ok, so I removed the transmission to inspect the diaphragm spring and found that two fingers are bent a little bit toward the engine and there is no space between them. Do you think that could be the problem? Refer to the link below to see a picture. Please advise.

Thanks

I believe that I did ask the question before and I take it that the school put the clutch in. was the clutch disc from the gmc eng or was it from a chevy eng. looks like the throw-out brg wasn't working very well either.
