oh yeah, it's a 305 bored and stroked to 340 - I know, but I wasn't the one that did it.

You may have standard nuts and they will work loose. A set of new nuts would not be expensive. If there is enough stud above the nuts you could double nut them and lock them together. Are the nuts "rounded" at the bottom to match the rocker? If not do you have a rounded collar that matches the rocker? Take the time to give it a good look.

I have had rocker shaft support nuts come loose and keep a valve from working. I would guess the nuts were not torqued properly to begin with. Try to get the correct torque settings and it should be fine. Gotta pay better attention, I gotta pay better attention....:0
