It feels good. My question is. Does any one know for sure if this truck could have been built 12v. The last owner says it was but he has proven not to be the most honorably man I have ever met. The bulbs are all 12v as is the generator. But while it runs the ampmeter is jumping down to full discharge and then back up constantly. I dont see any resistors mounted anywhere and cant find any markings on the voltage regulator. I want to go to 12v alternater soon but dont want to burn anything. | | |

It certanly sounds as if you have a charging problem. you should first confirm that it's a 12 volt generator, it should say on the tag on the housing. Then check it with an ammeter to rule out a faulty dash guage. You should also check the volts output. If you are going to convert to an alternator anyway, you'll want to go through the entire system and make certain that it's compatible with 12 volts.
